Character Full-Name and Titles::
Fajou the Darkspear

Character Race and Class::
Troll mage

Why does your character wish to join Blackguard? If the answer is "gold", tell us why gold matters to them.:
Fajou wishes to join the Blackguard, as currently he is feeling a little bit lost. He has abandoned his former life, he feels that he isn’t welcome in his home. He has many times clashed with his tribe and with his so called friends, and now he wants to leave all that behind and have a fresh start. He befriended with Ransul some time ago, and from him Fajou has heard stories about the ‘Ratpack’. To Fajou, this sounds like a fairly good deal in his current situation, and something he could try. He is curious about the options it might provide, he feels like this is a chance for him to see a different side of life, travel around the world, and maybe learn more and accomplish something on his personal agenda.

Describe your character's past. Where did they grow up? How did they learn their trade? What kind of work history do they have? Whatever you think is relevant to who they are – but aim for at least 3 full lines.:
Fajou’s past is alike to most people in his tribe. He was born in the South Seas and later moved to Durotar along with the rest of the darkspears. Even as a whelp he had a natural affinity to magic, and he later became an apprentice to one of the village hexxers. His thirst for more knowledge and more power was growing every day, so eventually he ventured out to the world on his own, planning to learn as much as he possibly could. He has studied in various places, but no matter how much he studied and learned, he was never able to get enough. This thirst for more is what dictates nearly everything he does.

Just a little before the Cataclysm started, Fajou got himself tangled with the twilight cult. He joined them for the same reason as he does everything: in hopes to gain more power and more knowledge. The atrocities and crimes he committed with the twilights is something that he seldom mentions, but yet he doesn’t seem to regret his past with them either. Back then he didn’t truly believe the teachings of the twilights, and later ended up assassinating some of his former peers, as well as escaping the organization. His tribe eventually found out about his past, and have more or less shunned him after this discovery.

Fajou used to be a vital part of a savage raptor cult, and a follower of the Loa. He didn’t feel at home though, and he often wandered away to work with his personal projects. Later he started to feel that the deal wasn’t worth it anymore. The various rules started to feel as a burden, and something that restrained his actions too much. He made a few mistakes, made some enemies, started to doubt his faith, and eventually felt he’d be better off without them.

Tell us about your character's skillset. What can they do that would be valuable to a mercenary company?:
My character is a traditional mage. He’s not a witch doctor, nor a spiritual person of any kind. He uses the power of arcane to cast his spells, and is a fairly competent fighter as long as he doesn’t run out of magical energy. He has specialised in all sorts of illusion spells, as well as fire spells. Due to his time with the twilights, he is also able to use some simple mind controlling spells. He has dabbled with demons but is far from an expert. He is able to ‘hexgate’ himself and his friends around the world easily. He can sometimes detect magical items, and he is able to empower weapons and other items with small enchants.

In melee combat he is useless, unless his opponent is tied up, or an infant. He can slash and mutilate with a dagger effectively, but due to his frail body frame he can’t really take much of a beating. He doesn’t know how to use an axe or a hammer, and he can’t do much with a sword. He isn’t physically strong in any way. He isn’t a very good tactician, and his overconfident attitude towards his own skills sometimes gets him to trouble. I don’t know what your stance is for casters at the moment, but I personally don’t mind if my character’s skills wouldn’t be so “special”. It could even be nice to RP so that some veteran battle-mage (or somebody similar) would teach him how to work effectively in this group.

What are your character's feelings regarding the other Horde races?:
In the raptor cult my character learned to think of all the other races as lessers. Flesh and blood in an inconvenient package. Lately he has started to rethink about his life, and what he truly believes in. Are these opinions really his own, or was at least some of it only due to his attempts to fit in with the cultists? Fajou is on a path to learn that it is possible to befriend with non-trolls as well, the world isn’t so black and white as he used to think. I’d like to point out though, that he isn’t outright openly violent and rude towards others, especially not in a situation where he is a subordinate to somebody who isn’t a troll. He really can't afford it right now. During his time with the twilights he got used to getting bossed around by elves, orcs and even humans. He knows when it’s best to not let his opinions to be heard.

From and OOC point I’d like to say that I had to tweak my character quite a bit before he started to fit into the cult, and I’m planning to do so now as well if needed. I like to play out his personality changes, as well as his opinions changing little by little. I’m also not planning to cause any IC or OOC difficulties with his attitudes, for example I wouldn’t disturb the plans of an event with his racial issues.

Old enemies, old loyalties - does your character have them? Who with?:
I believe some of the remaining twilights might be very interested in getting him killed, as well as some members of his tribe and the raptor cult. Fajou loathes his tribe. He has some troll friends on the zandalari side. He isn’t very loyal to anyone except himself and his few friends, and possibly the gods he used to serve.

Finally, write a quick paragraph, describing your character doing something typical to them. (This is to help us get a feel for how you play, so make it something you might type in RP.):
Fajou glances over his shoulder before stepping into the witch doctor’s house. Nobody is at home, apart from the clowder of various cats that seem to inhabit this small apartment. Fajou lifts the hem of his robes, abhorred by the idea that the cats would shed fur on his precious garments or ruin the delicate embroideries with their claws. He can’t possibly understand why anyone would want to live with such disgusting critters, but then again there’s plenty about the witch doctor that he doesn’t understand. Fajou slowly slinks closer to the bookshelf, carefully avoiding to touch anything in the room and struggling with the urge to whack the nearest cat with his staff.

The bookshelf is in a fairly chaotic state, Fajou clicks his tongue in disapproval as he tries to find something interesting from this unorganized mess. It takes quite a while for him to choose a few suitable books from the doctor’s impressive collection. He browses through the pages of one book that seems to be containing stories. It appears to be about a gnome that travels around the world with a group of dwarves and a wizard, there’s even pictures of these strange adventurers. "maybeh dis be sumthin’ he likes, especialleh as treasah be mentianed as well", he says quietly to himself. Fajou promised a book to his friend, and it is one of the few promises he is planning to keep before his trip to the swamplands. He huffs as he walks out of the house with the book in his bag. Who the hell writes a book about gnomes? And more importantly: who would ever translate such text into orcish?

Blackguard deals with mature themes and content. Please confirm you, the player, are over 18.:
Yes

Why do you wish to join Blackguard?:
I’ve been a member in the Cult of the Raptor for years, and Fajou is my favourite RP character. Although I enjoy the tribal trollish roleplay, I feel like trying something different for a change. I’ve felt for a longer time that my character doesn’t really fit into the cult that well, and might be better off in some outlaw guild. I’ve tweaked and tried to change him quite a lot, and sometimes I feel that I can’t really play him in the way I’d want to. After talking and playing with Ransul I decided to read a bit about the Blackguard just out of curiosity, and soon I found myself wondering if this might actually be a guild fitting for my Fajou. The Blackguard guild concept seems interesting, and definitely different from what I’m used to. The themes of this guild are something that I’d like to try. Naturally I’d also like to get to know some new people, and perhaps make new friends. To me this sounds like a community which I might like, and your guild rules and guidelines sound reasonable.

Tell us a bit about yourself. Hobbies, job, talents, accomplishments, whatever you're comfortable sharing.:
I am 30 years old and I live in Finland. I live with my fiancé, two dogs and a cat. My dogs are my dearest hobby: the daily walks, dog shows, lure coursing and all sorts of training. I work as a laboratory assistant, due to my working hours I usually can’t roleplay very late on workdays. I hope this wouldn’t be a too big problem. My other hobbies are latino dancing, knitting, writing small stories, drawing horrificly bad pictures, and geocaching. I like chocolate, reggae music, christmas, cute animals and reading books. I’m quite shy.

Tell us about your background in roleplay.:
I rolled this troll on AD in the early spring of 2010. I joined cotr, and have been a member of that guild since. I have all sorts of various toons, but Fajou is my main roleplay character and the only notable one. I have roleplayed a little in skype with my friends, but apart from that my only RP experiences are from wow. I’d like to point out that I’ve always been in civilian guilds, and new to any sorts of military aspects. Therefore I am a novice, in a way. In the cult I’ve hosted various plots and events regularly, as well as been the main recruiting officer. The life of an officer is stressing though, and something I don’t wish to continue. Roleplay is very important to me, and I take it very seriously (although this doesn’t mean that I wouldn’t enjoy silly RP). I like events, campaigns, plots and rumours, I like sitting and talking, I like adventuring, and anything at all. I’d like to mention that I’m one of those people that uses accent in my character’s speech, in both orcish and in zandali. I hope this wouldn’t be a problem. I know some people don’t like that style.

I’m willing to talk more about my character and his personality/history if needed. If there’s something you’d like to ask, or something you think might be an issue, I’m more than happy to discuss it. I’m open for suggestions as well. Apologies that this application became a wall of text, many thanks for reading.
